Hazardous Storage - 16th May 2011
Hazardous Storage materials such as flammable liquids, chemicals, acids, types of paint and other hazardous items can't simply be stored in any warehouse area. There are minimum standards for hazardous storage and as such many companies look to outsource their hazardous storage requirements to specialist companies who are able to meet all of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002.
There are clear risks associated with hazardous storage. Chemicals should always be stored according to the instructions provided by the manufacturers. If there are different types of substances to be stored they must be kept apart if they are incompatible. Spill kits and trained staff should be around in case any spillages do occur whilst hazardous substances are in storage. Appropriate ventilation is also needed when the substances are being handled and moved.
In addition to all of the above it is incredibly important that containers are all appropriately labelled. This is especially required when short term hazardous storage is used at a facility.
Web Warehouse are able to offer hazardous storage up to all regulatory requirements for both short and long term use. They are also able to offer flexible terms with no minimum contract for hazardous storage. This means that the customer is able to ensure they aren't locked in to contracts for a longer term than they might necessarily need and also provides flexibility if the amount of hazardous storage space needs to be changed at any time.
